I have read as much as I can find on sending a Word 2007 doc as an e-mail
(body) and I still cannot find a way to do it. Everytime I try, it is
attached to an e-mail instead of it being the e-mail. I have people whose
security will not allow attachments of any kind. How can I send as body and
not attachemnt.

It's not exactly intuitive. What you need is the EmailEnvelope command,
which is not containted anywhere in the Office 2007 interface (at least not
as far as I can see). It's also not available when customizing the Quick
Access Toolbar.

One way to get it is to create a macro named EmailEnvelope, then place that
macro onto the Quick Access Toolbar. When you create a macro by that name,
it will automatically contain the correct command to accomplish what you
want. No actual programming is needed.

Once there, you click it to toggle email headers on and off. When toggled
on, you can fill in the To: address, etc. and click Send a Copy to send the
current document to the email recipient.

Actually, I lied. You don't need to go through all that macro rigmarole. The
command IS in the QAT's list, but it was hiding under a different name.

Right-click the Quick Access Toolbar and choose Customize...

Set Choose commands from: to All Commands.

In the list of commands, scroll down to "Send to Mail Recipient".

Click on Send to Mail Recipient, then click Add.

Click OK at the bottom.

Now you can use that tool to toggle on/off email headers for sending the
current window's contents as an email.

Some really are gone, just not this one. I actually had tracked this one
down before, but had forgotten where it was.

Regarding the questions of emailing as an attachment… I too cannot find a way
to just send an email using Outlook from a Word document which I have done
for years. Almost all corporate firms I send email to will not accept an
attached Word document, yet Microsoft defaults the email option to send as an
attachment providing no other easily found method of simply sending the email
from Word. The whole point of upgrading the Office Suite is to make you more
productive, yet this new version has done the opposite for me and most
everyone I’ve spoken with. I realize it takes time to get used to things,
and I’ve always had growing pains with new versions, but Office 2007 has done
nothing to make us more productive, quite the opposite. In regards to the
copy and paste response, a better answer is use Office 2003 and don’t
upgrade.

There was an earlier response indicating how to get the Word 2003
functionality in Word 2007. I agree that they haven't made it easy to find,
but once you've added the needed tool to the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT),
it's easy and available.

Right-click the QAT and choose Customize QAT. Set Choose commands from: to
Commands Not in the Ribbon. Scroll to the commands starting with S, click on
Send to Mail Recipient, then click Add - OK.

Thereafter, you can use the tool on the QAT to toggle email headers on/off
for initiating email from Word 2007.
