Post subject: Word 2007 Templates
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>word>docmanagement (more info?)

How would I create a template in Word 2007 and then give it to a user that
has Word 2000 to use? When we have tried this with Word 2000, the user opens
the template and is not asked to save the file. It allows the user to put
data in the file and save it as a .doc file. Any ideas on how this is suppose
to work?

In Word 2007, save the template as a Word 97-2003 Template (*.dot)

The templates should be saved in the user's template folder and to use them,
they should select New from the File menu and then select the template as
the basis for the document that they want to create. That is, the user
should not be opening the template by using File>Open.
