ZC - Thanks for this tip. This worked for me also. Had a user (my manager
actually) that had this issue pop up a couple of days ago. Deleting these
registry entries solved the issue.

I dont seem to have these entries only

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing

(default) REG_SZ (value not set)
frenchspellingreform REG_DWORD 0x000000000 (0)

(weird as I dont use the french dict)

my instict tells me that this is not right, but I dont know registry so if
anyone can advise I would appreciate

My spell check has stopped working also. I am using Microsoft Word 2007. I
don't recall doing anything different to make it stop. It is not correcting
my spelling as I compose in a document. This is the message that appears:
"Cannot find proofing tools for English (United States). If you have the
proofing tools, try installing or re-installing them. Contact your local
reseller to obtain office proofing tools. For more information, see the
Microsoft Office Site."
I used the CD to repair it, but it didn't help.
