I have an emblem from a powerpoint file that I would like to use as a
watermark in word. Right clicking on the emblem gives me options, one to
copy, but not to save as. How can I save this emblem as a gif or jpg to then
use in my word document as a watermark?

Try copying and pasting it into paint. Then save as a .jpg (normally smaller
than a .gif). From there you can insert it as a picture from file.
