Yes, and yes.

The only original Adobe Truetypes are in their "Web Type" collection.

I haven't properly tested the various permutations of OpenType fonts.

Thanks. I'm going to have to play around with this. I wonder if this was a
fight between MS and the vendors.

I didn't note a later followup from your earlier discussion on this.

If using Palatino Linotype is a valid test for this , then when saved from Word 2003 in .doc format the font is embedded, but it
doesn't appear to be included when savind as .docx or .docm.

When saved from Word 2007 as .doc, .docx or .docm the font does appear to be embedded, although from the file sizes it may not be as
efficiently done as might be expected (i.e. in Word 2007 with a one paragraph document formatted as Palatino Linotype the .docm
fonts folder contains nine .odttf font files). This may be in part because at present there are right to left languages enabled and
it may be covering those as well even though not explicitly used in the body of the document.
