How do I get word 2007 to only check grammar and spelling 'when' I ask for it
to occur, as opt-in, as with previous versions of Word.
All I can find, is in options, proofing, at bottom of page, turn off for
this document, which didn't work anyway - the blue and red wavy linss are
still here. Or tools, languge, turn off for this document permantenly <--
which is an opt-out process.

Uncheck Word options > proofing > check spelling as you type and Mark
grammar errors as you type, will stop the underlining on your PC.
If you want the errors to remain unmarked whoever opens the document, select
all the document and change the language setting option to do not check
spelling or grammar.
This was the same in earlier versions.

Thank You very much for the gracious answer and it worked too!
This is my first time with word 07 (I wish I was still using '03) - looking
at a doc over 100 pages, and I use a screen mag program, and with such a
large file - the cpu was straining. I apologize I took my frustation out in
my plea for help.
