Post subject: Text Box Appearing in Reading Layout View Only
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>word>drawing>graphics (more info?)

A document was created in Word 2003 to act as the answer key for an exam.
The answers were displayed in a text box. The exam was then created by
deleting the text boxes and then saved as a separate document. In Normal,
Web Layout and Print View, the exam did not display any text boxes containing
answers. Nor did the boxes display when the document was printed. However,
in Reading Layout, some of the text boxes (with answers) appeared. They
would not be visible once "Actual Page" was selected from the Reading Layout
toolbar. Needless to say, since the text boxes are not visible in any other
view, it is proving difficult to delete these boxes since you cannot delete
them in Reading Layout. Has anyone else experienced this and found how to
correct this (two problems, 1. No display of drawing objects in any view
other than Reading Layout and, 2. How to remove the text boxes since they
can't be viewed in other views)?

I do have "Drawings" checked and "Picture placeholders" unchecked in
Tools/Options/View.

I was able to remove the text boxes by selecting the box in Reading Layout,
changing Text Wrapping to "In Front of Text," then changing the view to Web
Layout. The text boxes were then visible and could be selected and deleted.
They would no longer appear in any view.
