Post subject: Why don't the Table borders disappear?

I'm new at this web page building so I'm sure I have a lack of understanding
here somewhere.

Here's my problem. When I look at someone else's web page I can see how they
set up what appears to be a table to me, to organize their images and
buttons and whatever. Now when you bring this html file up with Internet
Explorer, the Table borders disappear (which is what you want). But now when
I start from scratch on a web page, and use a table to organize, the table
borders DON'T disappear when I bring the page up in Explorer. Can somebody
tell me what I'm missing here?

thanks,
mike

Hi Mike,

If you're creating the tables in MS Word, if the borders are visible in Print Preview, they're likely to be visible in File=>Web
Page preview as well.

If you select the table you can use either
View=>Toolbars=>Tables and Borders
or Format=>Borders and Shading to turn off the
table viewable borders.

To have a 'dotted line' visible to help you working that doesn't print you can use the Show/Hide Gridlines setting in the Table menu
or turn on 'Text Boundaries' in Tools=>Options=>View.

Thanks Bob. That looks like it does the trick.
