Post subject: Spotty functionality with Outlook 2002
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>outlook>installation (more info?)

I've been going round & round with Comcast about this for over a week, and
they have been of little help. Here's what I am experiencing...

I'm using Outlook 2002 to retrieve messages from Comcast's servers. For
about 2 weeks, I had voice mail problems. Once they fixed that, though, my
e-mail stopped coming. So I've called numerous times and with a tech support
agent on the phone I've checked, rechecked and re-rechecked the Outlook
settings. And according to Comcast they're right. However, when I click on
Send and Receive, sometimes I receive e-mail sometimes I don't. (I test it
by using the "Test Account Settings" feature in the E-mail Account setup
screen.) To further confuse things, if I go to the comcast.net mailcenter
online, I see my e-mail, including the test messages that Outlook sent to
itself. Furthermore, also I have a secondary e-mail account with Comcast and
and it too is set-up with Outlook. If I do the "Test Account Settings" in
Outlook on this account, I receive the message almost instantly in Outlook.

Comcast is insisting it's an Outlook software issue. That doesn't make
sense to me since a) it works occasionally for the primary e-mail account,
and b) works all of the time for the secondary account. I've deleted the
primary account and reestablished it and no luck.

Any thoughts?
