Post subject: Spell checking a HTML doc Add to elertz
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>word>web>authoring (more info?)

I created a number of pages and got them working in Firefox. After a
modified CSS and some other changes I got IE to work. These pages were
created with a text editor (Notepad) and there is no spelling support. I
thought that if I opened the pages in Word, that I could fix the
spelling. That worked fine, until I saved the doc. Word screwed it up to
the point that I could not open the page correctly in IE or Firefox.
I tried the Word Editor suggestion from the message "opening HTML and
see tags". I can open the html, and there s no additional garbage.
However there is no spell checker. In the help I see a reference to
add-ins. Is there one (preferably free) that can be gotten?
Thanks in advance for any direction.

Eversoft 1st Page has a built in spell checker.

Most users prefer the year-2000 version over the newer version.

You'll also benefit from using this tool rather than NotePad.

Don:
Thank you.
I will look into 1st page
I should have mentioned that I am using Office 2000, so if there is
a 2000 version I would prefer that also.
I also agree that Notepad is not the way to go, but I did not know
what was available. Now I do.

Don:
1st page works great. Sorry I misread your reply. I thought that 1st
page was just a dictionary addin, not a full application.
I could, however, not download 2000, even when I selected it, I came
to the 2006 page.
For my requirement it is graet
Thanks again
John
