Archived from groups: microsoft>public>excel>crashesgpfs (more info?)

I'm writing a tool to be used by inexperienced users in 2003 without
intervention. I'm using 2007 and saving down. A compatibility error has
arisen, which seems to go away and then resurface, which relates to numbers
of rows and columns. However I'm nowhere near the limits.
I opened the file on another PC in 2003 and it was fine (so far)

Has anyone else experienced this or knows of a fix?
Thanks

XL2003 has
65536 rows
columns from A to IV

XL2007 has
1048576 rows
columns from A to XFD

In XL2007 make sure you work within the 03 limits and you should be fine.
Maybe there is some data or formatting on your sheets somewhere far away
that you haven't spotted. Select the rows and columns you don't need and do
clear all (home > editing > clear > clear all)
