Archived from groups: microsoft>public>word>docmanagement (more info?)

I have two fillable forms that I created in Word 97-2003 and password
protected. We upgraded to Word 2007 this summer and I now have some changes
that need to be made. I am able to unprotect the documents and make the
changes but can no longer protect the document.

Do you have any suggestions?

Forms created in earlier Word versions still work in Word 2007. Is the
problem that you cannot find the protection functionality? In that case:

1. You need to display the Developer tab. If it is not visible, select
Office button > Word Options > Popular category > turn on “Show Developer tab
in the Ribbon”.

2. On the Developer tab, click Protect Document. Now you will se the pane
known from Word 2003, where you can define how to protect the form.

If the above is in place and if you the problem is that the “Yes, Start
Enforcing Protection” button is disabled, the reason is most likely that
Design Mode is turned on (also on the Developer tab). In that case, turn it
of.

You may find http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/Classic%20Form%20Controls.htm useful
when working on forms in 2007.
