Archived from groups: microsoft>public>powerpoint (more info?)

I have several presentation which have linked Gif in them but when i
send the presentation on to people they cannot see them as they do not
have the original pictures, ok i know that that is right, but in the
help it says you can use edit, links to manually set how they
behave.......

but the option is greyed out, my question is why and how do i enable
it???

i thought it might just be my personal machine but it also appears (or
rather does not appear) on other machines as well , can any body
suggest why this is??

regards

Phil

The links dialog only works with OLE/ActiveX links (ie, stuff from Excel, Word
and the link) but not links to images, movies or sounds.

We have an add-in for PowerPoint that works with links.
http://www.pptools.com/fixlinks/

The free demo will repair image links in several ways. You can have it make
the links "path free" so all you need to do is send the presentation AND the
linked images and make sure people put them in the same folder to have the
presentation work as you expect.

Or it can convert the pictures from linked to embedded so all you need to send
is the PPT file itself.
