Archived from groups: microsoft>public>word>numbering (more info?)

I am using MS Word 2007, with XP. I want the section and section
page number ( for example for Section 5 Page 2, 5-2)
Any hints or website references that would help would be most
appreciated! I am also having trouble finding how to view the codes
in 07.

The general principles are given in
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Numbering/ChapterNumber.htm. Although you can
include the section number (of what Word thinks of as a section) by using
the SECTION field, the only way to have a number included with the page
number in such a way that it will show up in a TOC or cross-references is to
include the "chapter" number, which must be the number of an auto-numbered
paragraph in one of Word's built-in heading styles.
