Post subject: Locked form created in Word 2003 does not retain properties in W 2 Archived from groups: microsoft>public>word>vba>userforms (more info?)
I created calculating purchase requisition and puurchase order forms in Word
2003. Our employer is gradually upgrading all systems on campus to Word
2007. When these two forms are opened in Word 2007, they do not retain the
"locked" form attributes (when locked in 2003, the user can only fill in the
"form" portion. The user can print only data onto a preprinted form, while
the purchasing manager can print all information (prints the same as the
preprinted form.) This saves time and energy in both areas. The form only
has to be typed once, can be faxed to venders with all the information, while
the department is collecting signatures on the "original" form.
I have been able to "force" a printable form in Word 2007, however when the
boxes are completed, the type size and style change from Arial 10 to Times
New Roman 12, causing the single page form to elongate and shift onto two
pages. This is in spite of going into Word 2007 and restricting access. I
was unable to find a way to "lock" a "form" in Word 2007. I also had to
remove all of the lines that did not print in Word 2003 using "print data
only", which creates problems for the purchasing manager, who now has to
retype all these documents.
Is there a way of using the Word 2003 form in Word 2007, keeping all of the
formatting? I have attempted to solve this on my own, have requested help
from our IT department, and have reviewed MSN website. I am still unable to
solve this on my own.
