Archived from groups: microsoft>public>outlook>installation (more info?)

I had beeen using Outlook Express for eMail. Recently I installed Outlook so
I could use calendar email etc with my new iPhone 3G. I can synch iPhone to
calendar OK and send eMail from both. These I also receive.
However I don't receive eMail from my old correspondents. Not even junk
eMail from firms etc. If I run test email it sends and receives from both.
Test messages from self at work and from desk-mate don't arrive.

What am I doing wrong.

Make sure that the settings in Outlook exactly match the similar settings
used for Outlook Express. If OE can access your mail, Outlook should be
able to in exactly the same way.

John W,
Also you may want to check the Advance tab settings in Outlook, Outlook
Express and the IPhone Mail application. You need to make sure that they are
set to leave the messages on the server after the download. What might be
happening, is one program is deleting the messages after being downloaded,
so the other application(s), can't download them.

1. In Outlook Express> TOOLS> Mail accts> Select a mail acct that both get
downloaded to Outlook Express, Outlook, and your IPhone> Properties button>
Advance tab> Check "Leave copy on server...." . Repeat for any other email
accts you have download into the other program or device. Also set that
messages get deleted after XX days, or your ISP/Mail service Mailbox will
get full, and no new messages will be accepted. Or choose Outlook to tell
the POP server, to do the deletion of messages, after XX days. I personally
set mine for 14 days, but if your ISP/Mail Service mailbox, is large enough,
then you can increase the retention time.

2. In Outlook2003 (Other Outlook versions may have a slight different route
to the Acct's Advance tab)> TOOLS> Email accts> Change or View Email accts>
Select a mail acct that both get downloaded to Outlook Express, Outlook, and
your IPhone> Properties button> More Settings button> Advance tab> Check
"Leave copy on server...." . Repeat for any other email accts you have
download into the other program or device.

3. I don't have an IPhone, I would expect a similar setting under
Options/Preferences for that Program.
