Post subject: Inserting a drop down menu

I am trying to insert a drop down list into a word document using the
developer tool. I want to be able to click on a name in the drop down and
their medicaid number to appear. I entered the name in the "display" field
and their "number" in the value field. When I tried it out of designer mode
it worked. Yeah! But then after naming the tag and title and simple editing
of the document the drop down only displays their name when I click on the
name. I have tried removing the content control button and reentering the
information but, same thing happens. What do I need to do to get it back to
where the content control button for a drop down menu allows me to click on a
person's name and have something else appear? I am using Microsoft Word 2007.
Thanks
Karen

G'Day Karen,

The various developer tools are 'front-ends' that display stuff, but require
a VBA subroutine (Macro) to 'act' upon the choices made by a user.

Its a long time since I did any VBA programming - I suggest that you re-post
in a Word.vba Discussion Group.

In that post you should also state what version of Word you are using.
