Post subject: Incrementing slide numbers on a custom show Add to elertz
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>powerpoint (more info?)

I have created a custom Powerpoint 2003 slide show within a larger set of
slides.

When I print the slides for this custom show, the slides are numbered
according to their placement in the large show, not their placement in the
custom show.

E.g., If I had a slide show with 6 slides, and I create a custom show
consisting of every other slide, my custom show slides are numbered 1,3,5 on
the printout instead of 1,2,3.

That seems like very strange behavior. When I give someone a set of slides,
I always want them numbered in the order 1,2,3, etc. Can you imagine giving
someone a deck of ten slides and asking them to turn to slide number 38?

Is there a way to correct this behavior?

Not directly, but there's an add-in (Shyam's Toolbox, http://skp.mvps.org) that
lets you save a custom show to a separate PPT that you could print.

Thanks, Steve. The add-in is designed for Office XP and Office 2000. I
presume it will work for Office 2003 as well.

As I mentioned, this seems like odd behavior. Has it been fixed in
Powerpoint 2007?

Not much changed between 2002 and 2003. I'd be very surprised if it didn't work.

Not that I know of.
