Well, the obvious first Smile In order to use the Group command you must have
2 or more "group-able" objects selected. In order to Ungroup you must have a
Grouped object selected. Beyond that...

Office 2007 recognizes several different types of objects, not all of which
can be grouped with others & some require the use of a Canvas. See the first
Word Help topic when you search on the keyword: Grouping.

BUT

I too can't use it because the grouping option is not compatable with my web
browser. When I go to insert new shapes to draw a new canvas to put the two
images (1 image & 1 text box) on it too is greyed out. Does this mean I have
to revert back to IE instead of Mozilla?

Hi Carl,

The browser you're using shouldn't directly influence whether or not you can group graphic items in Word 2007.

Hold the ctrl key when starting Word 2007 (safe mode) then use
Insert=>Shape=>New Drawing
to create a canvas. Are you saying that 'New Drawing'[canvas] is greyed out at that point?

If not, what are the steps you're taking after the canvas is in place?

Well I'm a Dill! After other posts I realised after sendint the scanned
imaged to word it came in at a .htm document (go figure why). Once I saved
it as a .docx/.doc I was then able to manipluate the images.

Tell you what, after using the other Offices for the last 20 (?) years this
is so lame and difficult to use.... Now I have to relearn everything and be
ready to teach it in 2009!

can you guys send me to 'Learn the new system' please? I didn't ask fo it
to be changed so radically!

Cheers for your help
