Post subject: Greyed out Grammar options box office 2003/ Welsh language

Hello

My PC is running Windows XP with Office 2003, when I error check English (any) Word documents I get told there is "no proofing tools for Welsh". If I now go to tools/language/set language the top 3 languages are English (U.S.), English (U.K.) both of which have a tick and "ABC" beside them, and Welsh, which does not have ABC nor a tick beside it but it is the one that is highlighted in blue.

If I set English to be the default then any new erroneous text typed is correctly identified and a correction offered for selection, however the original text is not corrected. If I go back into set language then English is the highlighted language.

If I now highlight all the text and, leaving it highlighted, and go back in to set language no language is highlighted but there is a dotted line below the English language as previously selected. If I select English then all the text in the document is checked correctly.

Unfortunately the language setting is not saved, if I close the document and start a new one I get the same problem.

I have gone in to Microsoft Office Tools and set the language to English in there but it makes no difference, I even removed Welsh from the right hand list. Strangely Outlook does perform the correct error checking, however if I write an email, which Outlooks error checks, and cut and paste the text in to Word then I get the same "Wesh" problem.

I have got a hold of another PC, which does error check in English, and compared all settings in Word and they are identical but with one exception, under tools/option/ spelling & Grammar the bottom section of the screen on my computer is greyed out, so i cannot select anything under Grammar, so I am assuming that this is the problem but can't see how to change this.

If anyone can help me un-grey the box or shed some othr light on the subject then i would be delighted to hear from you.
