Post subject: Footnote number not superscript ? Archived from groups: microsoft>public>word>formatting>longdocs (more info?)
Hey all,
A customer calls me with an issue that I've not yet seen before. He
is running Word 2003 on a Windows XP box, and has never had this issue
before, and still does not have it on any documents except this one. He
will select the text he wants to create a Footnote to, does Insert |
References | Footnote, and when it places the number on the selected
text in the body it is not superscript! The number in the footnotes
section is superscript though, and when we select the number and choose
Format | Font we can set it as superscript. The main question is: Why
does it not automatically super-script it?

You can change the appearance by modifying the Footnote Reference Style.

Hope this helps.

I would think that was the answer if it were not for the fact that the
footnote reference in the footnote itself *is* superscripted.
