I am using Word 2007 and on my document I have a number of hyperlinks to
files on the local server.
When I saveas a PDF document using the Microsoft addin all of the
crossreference links work OK but all of the file links become www links and
no longer work.
Is this a bug or is there some setting I need to change?

See if Word Options > Advanced > General > Web Options > Files > Uncheck
'update links on save' helps.

Sorry Graham, I'm afraid that did not work but does that mean that it does
work OK for you?
In fact has anyone managed to get file hyperlinks to work when the document
is saved as a PDF using the microsoft addin.

Obviously I don't have your network to play with but otherwise it works for
me. Check the PDF options
ISO 19005-1 compliant (PDF/A) check box

Hi Graham,
I have tried it with and without the ISO 19005-1 compliant (PDF/A) check
box.
Its not just network references that don't work. Even if the file reference
is to my C drive.
For Example:
In Word I create a hyperlink to "C:\Documents and Settings\me\My
Documents\myfile.jpg" which works fine. The default screentip has
"file:///C:\Documents and settings\me\My Documents\myfile.jpg"
I then save/publish this word document using saveas pdf. I have tried it
with and without the various options; ISO 19005-1 compliant option, Create
Bookmarks option, and document structure tag for accessibility option.
The pdf file has a link but the link is a world wide web link to
"file:///C:\Documents%20and%20Settings\me\My%20Documents\myfile.jpg" so when
I try to follow the link it opens internet explorer. I am using Adobe reader
8 to read the pdf file. I also openned the pdf file using acrobat 5.0 with
the same result so it is Word/PDF addin that is creating the wrong link.
Any other suggestions on what might be the problem.

The link is still correctly associated with the image. It opens in the
browser. I don't know whether you can dictate to Acrobat/Reader which
application it uses for displaying images. You would need to ask in an
Acrobat forum.
