Excel crashes on protected chart.

Hi all.

I have discovered a problem with excel crashing on a protected chart and do
not know how to fix.

I am using excel 2003 with SP3.

In a new workbook i inserted a XY scatter chart as a new sheet called Chart 1.
I then protected the chart (No password) and then selected the chart and hit
any key on the keyboard. The message box comes up as expected to say the
chart is protected.
It's when i select another sheet or type anything in another sheet, come
back to chart and select and hit any key it causes excel to crash.

I was using SP2, after crash MS recommended installing SP3 but that did not
fix problem.

I have run out of things to try, any suggestions please.
