Post subject: Error: Undefined or non-rectangular name Add to elertz
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>excel>worksheet>functions (more info?)

Hello all,

(Office 2003 SP3 on Win XP Pro SP3)
(Also tried the following on an Office-2003-SP3-on-Win-XP-Pro-PS2 machine)

Has anyone seen this error before (subject line)?

My situation is this:
I have 2 files.
One file has 3 dynamic named ranges (OFFSET() & COUNT() functions)...all 3
dynamic ranges are rectangular (just one area).
The other file is referencing those 3 dynamic named ranges in a sumproduct
formula.

If I start off with both files closed, open the other one (the one with the
external references to the dynamic ranges), it says there are links and asks
me to update them. I click "Update". Then XL tells me that links can not
be updated and asks if I want to continue or edit links. I click "Edit
Links...". Then that error message shows up in the "Edit Links" dialog box.
If I open the source file, the formulas calculate just fine.

I could've sworn that I've done this same thing in the past and it worked
just fine. I've just changed over to a new computer, installed SP3 for Win
XP Pro on the new computer, installed office SP3 on both computers...so I
don't know if I would have gotten the same error on an
Office-2003-SP2-on-Win-XP-Pro-SP2 machine.

Has anyone else experienced this error? Anyone know of a work-around for
it?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide,

Conan Kelly
