Post subject: Database query Archived from groups: microsoft>public>excel>querydao (more info?)
I am a novice with query, and would appreciate some help in writing a
report. I don't know whether this is the right group to make this
request, since I don't know what dao stands for.
Anyway, the report I am trying to write seems like it should be fairly
simple. All of the connections to the database are functional. I am
accessing a file called Sales History Invoice Header. I am able to
grab Customer Number, Customer Name, Invoice Number, Invoice Date, and
Invoice Amount.
I would like to create a report that sums a customer's sales by year,
where the column labels would be customer number, name, and the years
1997 - 2007. The simplest way to do this that I could think of would
be to create a data item that would be the sum of the invoice amounts
for a range of invoice dates, so that an item called sls97 would be
the sum of invoice amounts for invoice dates between 1/1/97 and
12/31/97. I don't know if this type of thing is possible or if this
would be the way to do it. I wouldn't actually want the invoice dates,
numbers, or amounts to display, only the customer number, name, and .
Any help would be much appreciated.
