Hi,

I noticed I was getting green bullets, even though the bullet text was
black. I checked the style for the bullet, and it was based on "Normal", and
the font color for the bullet was set to "Automatic."

Finally I just typed Normal text, and it was green, too! I just went to the
Normal style, and it shows it set to "Automatic" (i.e., black), yet it comes
out green! Has something got corrupted?

If you had been talking about printing, it might have meant something
as simple as that your black ink was empty.

For diagnostic purposes, set the default to black rather than Automatic.
Restart.

Are you referring to the screen display or printed output?

Actually I was referring to screen color, not printing, but this thread
seemed like the right one to post my question. Is there much of a difference?

Well (of course!), since doing something else for awhile (what I did was set
my "List Bullets" to be based on the previous one, instead of Normal), NOW
the colors are somehow all fine! I don't see how changing LATER (lower)
versions of List Bullets would restore the bullet color (and Normal) to
black...?

There are settings under printers and display options, e.g. ICC profile
settings, that affect the way colours render to the screen. There are
settings in Word that affect screen display colour and colours for fonts,
and other display elements. Depending on printer and available settings in
the driver, colours might differ between display and printed output.

In any event, glad you found what was causing the unexpected behaviour and
were able to change it to wat you expected.
