Hi all,
the correct form hasn't had any posts since Dec 2006, so I came here as this
place is frequented by MVP's!
All I want to do is Add the Control Panel icon to my desktop. Very simple I
know, I've just plain forgotten how.

Hi Paul,
In Windows XP with the Desktop visible, use Start and then click and hold on the Control Panel choice and drag (a copy) of it to
your desktop.

Cheers Bob,
I knew it was simple!
I didn't think one could drag n drop the Control panel itself....anyway, it
wouldn't work from the Start menu but it did work from the "My Computer"
explorer.
Sorted.
