So far, I have not been able to make the solutions work. Mostly due to my own
time constraints this morning. One challenge that I have is that I am unable to
locate the offending cache file. (C:\Documents and
Settings\<username>\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration),
per the instructions. I was able to get by, using MX2004 to finish my work for
the day.

I have not yet applied the 8.2 patch. I will try this. Undaunted, I press on.

I do appreciate the tip, though. It appears that the error is common enough to
warrant "Known Issue" status.

You need to enable the option to view hidden files and folders in
Windows. Open My Computer and select Folder Options from the Tools menu.
Click the View tab and select "Show hidden files and folders" in
Advanced settings. You should then be able to find the Configuration
file for Dreamweaver.

I had a similar if not the same error messages.... I followed Davids and
Nadia's advice tech notes from a few posts up the list.

Thank you. The noted error has now been fixed. I reinstalled DW8 (I know that
this was not part of your instruction, but had to do it anyway on my laptop so
as to get the 8.2 patch to work). I did find the offending file and delete it.
No more error, as indicated.

But here's the new error: "The following translators were not loaded due to
errors: ASP.htm has configuration information that is invalid. Date.htm has
configuration information that is invalid."

I will post this as a new forum topic, so as not to blend it with the now
solved issue.

Just for the record, I deleted the WinFileCachexxxxxxx.dat file, I rebuilt the
cache and still no luck. I then renamed my Dreamweaver8 file to
olddreamweaver8 (this is in your docs & settings folder). That fixed it, it
says to then add back the old folders/files, but its working as is, so I think
that I will leave it alone. I found this solution here:
