I, too, am experiencing this problem. Dreamweaver CS3 is lagging on pretty
much every function or task (selecting text, typing, placing images, deleting,
etc.) when dealing with a page containing a lot of images in "Design View". I
tried creating a page with some complex tables and CSS and it's working just
fine in that case, so it must only be pages with images.

I'm running a MacBook 2GHz with 2GB RAM. Every other CS3 application seems to
fly except for this one.

Mac users, while waiting for Adobe to pull their finger out on this and issue
an update you can tell Dreamweaver CS3 to run using Rosetta.
Ironically all the freezing problems go away and it runs faster than in native
Intel mode.

I am also experiencing long pauses, I'm running Windows XP SP2 on Dell Optiplex
GX745 Intel Core2 6400 2.13GHz, 2GB RAM. The problem is also there on my home
laptop Apple MacBook Core Duo 2GB RAM, and my home Apple MacPro Dual Core2 Duo
4GB.

I have noticed that the pauses only occur when connected to the remote site
(can only use FTP with our hosting provider). If I disconnect, the pauses stop.
I am not referencing images by FQDN, only relative paths.

Internal DW FTP transactions should be background functions and low priority
unless directly requested by the user, but they seem to take all the processing
resources until complete, when the FTP connection is slow or busy the pauses
are much longer. I consider this to be a major bug in DW CS3.

I'm running Dreamweaver CS3 Version 9.0 , Build 3481.

When can we expect a fix to this problem, it's causing significant delays to
my workflow and holding up projects?

I am seeing the same type of issues on my WindowsXP SP2 laptop. I have to keep
making sure I disconnect from the remote site to get any editing done. When I
save or put a file up to the remote site DW gets so slow that it is just about
unusable. I click the icon to disconnect the remote site and I am back in
business - response time is beautiful again.

This is not just a Macintosh problem. One of my co-workers (also on an XP
machine) sees the same issues. Adobe needs to fix this! In DW MX, 2004, and 8 I
used to stay connected to my remote sites all day without any problems.

I still really like the DW program for all it does but the constant
disconnecting is a PAIN!

Same deal for me. Code view is fine, but anything that includes "design" view hangs with every movement.
On a brand new Mac book.

Everyone is having this problem. Adobe has not fixed it yet. I've had to use
GoLive CS2 because I already took all of my old Dreamweaver programs off of my
computer. It's not a RAM issue, because I have a G5 with 3GB of RAM, and it
stalls badly.

Hopefully they will fix it. Otherwise, I will have to keep using old programs
in order to get my work done....

Hi CenturionGamer

Does the problem only occur when you're connected to an FTP server? Most of
the issues discussed in this thread only affect Intel Macs and not PowerPCs
(G5's).

jbomar,

What OS? If it's a Mac, is it Intel Mac or PowerPC? Does the problem only
occur on pages with images? Does it only occur if you're connected to an
FTP server?

I'm getting similar problems on a windows XP (sevice pack 2). I've got 2G RAM.

When I started using it it was generally oK but I did notice some unacceptably
long pauses when I just went to do simple things like expanding folders int eh
file pane.

However starting from yesterday it just hangs and is completely unusable - I
start the program up - it takes quite a while to start, but eventually I get
the normal set of panes. Then when I click on a file to open it it just hangs.

I've deleted the cache file and moved the configuration folder to one side.
The latter forced it to re-create the cache. But then when I tried accessing
the file - the same problerm was there.

Yesterday I went back to dreamweaver 8 and it looks like I'm going to have to
do the same today. This is extremely irritating

[/q]David, I know you're focusing a lot on the Mac problems in this thread,
but I hope you're taking seriously the issue of the FTP-caused hanging on all
machines with an open connection. Since DW automatically connects to the FTP
server on a number of occasions, this hanging behavior is not as easy to avoid
as you might think. We have entire teams of web developers sitting out this
version of DW until this behavior is fixed, since it's a constant nuisance.

Thanks.

Do you know how I go about getting a refund? The product is totally unusable at the moment, and so I'll probably leave it and try again in a year's time when there's been a few updates

Either contact the company you purchased it from, or Adobe's Customer
Service.

This is killing me it is costing me $500 per day! I need a fix soon do you know
how much beer you can get for $500!!

I am still waiting for a reply after 48 hours

Dear Customer Support

I'm having horrific problems with Dreamweaver CS3

It seems to be rendering every action I make, and when I switch into Design
Mode it takes anything from 20-40 seconds for the page to load. If I select
any text on the page it seems to render it again and if I scroll the page we
need to take another 15 secord wait!

I do have a Header & Footer Include File that is hosted on my local machine
and my server. It seems to be loading the files on the server instead of the
files on my local machine.

This is the main code that seem to over load it

At the top of the file
<!--#include virtual="header.txt" -->
At the end of the file
<!--#include virtual="footer.txt" -->

If I don't have an Internet connection, Dreamweaver will not allow me to open
any files on my local machine.

I am running an Intel Mac with 1GB ram. Any support would be grateful as I
have only moved to a Mac in the last 10 days and I've only used Dreamweaver CS3
on the Mac.

I have no phoned Tech Support and waiting for Jeff to return my call!

Anyone got a fix yet??
